Containing the Acronis Rescue Media True Image and/or Disk Director Acronis True Image 10, build 4,942 was used for this guide. Steps in previous or later builds may be different. If you are using True Image 9 or earlier, please see the appropriate Appendix entry. All steps are shown using Windows XP. Differences when using Windows Vista are. I'm looking for any alternatives to Acronis True Image, specifically the boot disk option. Is there anything else better that you can recommend that gives me bootable media (USB preferred) and will allow me to make an image of the computer and send it to a local external drive or network location.and offer the reverse process for restoring the image? For rescue and system file repair from virus for free I like Kapersky products. It is always handy to make a rescue USB that has key system files for repair when computer fails to boot into windows or stuck. Kapersky is easy to use and repair along with having the ability to scan files and boot records for germies. I do my laptop this way. I create a duplicate boot drive, all pre-mounted in a duplicate caddy, ready to go. To do thius, I use Acronis Rescue Media. I boot to Acronis (Linux) and clone the internal HDD to an external eSATA drive. I power down, put the 'reserve' drive in the laptop and again boot to Acronis Rescue Media (in a thumb drive.). I then clone from the external eSATA to the 'new' internal HDD. When you use a browser, like Chrome, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. Some settings on sites get deleted. For example, if you were signed in, you’ll need to sign in again.
